Tom (Steven Mackintosh) is a middle-class city boy whose life has reached breaking point. D (Ashley Walters) is a young crack-head: smart, witty, desperate. Tom is completely out of his depth when he finds himself in D's abandoned warehouse attempting to do a "deal" with the energetic, volatile drug addict. The two enter into an irrational, deadly game of cat and mouse. The tense drama escalates when psychotic local crime-lord Hoodwink (Andy Serkis) wakes up to find his snub nose gun missing.
"A funny, furious and frightening little film with magnetic performances (from Steven Mackintosh, Ashley Walters and Andy Serkis) and a script that bristles with threat and misunderstanding. After years of trying, London film at last has its Tarantino moment "

"Please, please, please. If you are going to the cinema over the weekend, checkout Sugarhouse. I saw this last week and is the most tense, powerful, captivating film I've seen for a long while. And that's saying something. I have seen on average, 3 movies per week at the cinema for the last 4 months. BUT why am I pleading to you to see this film. Well, quite simply it's British and bloody great...go to http://sugarhousemovie.com for more... It's only just been released and the powers that be may pull it. This is a gem and cannot be missed like so many other great British movies in the past... It's gritty, violent, funny, and well it's about, drugs, guns and crime, what else!!!"

"Film The name Andy Serkis may not be too familiar with most people but i can guarantee most movie fans have seen him . Especially if they have watched Lord of The Rings because Serkis played Gollum or should i say he was the actor who did all the movements to create the computer generated Orc creature also he was the digital body of King Kong . In Sugarhouse Serkis gets the chance to show how good he is with his conventional acting , as he , Steven Mackintosh and Ashley Walters give a master class in what acting and performance is all about. Tom (Steven Mackintosh) is a middle-class city boy whose life has reached breaking point. D (Ashley Walters) is a young crack-head: smart, witty, desperate. Tom is completely out of his depth when he finds himself in D's abandoned warehouse attempting to do a 'deal' with the energetic, volatile drug addict. The two enter into an irrational, deadly game of cat and mouse. The tense drama escalates when psychotic local crime-lord Hoodwink (Andy Serkis) wakes up to find his snub nose gun missing. There have been a lot of sub standard British crime thrillers released over the last couple of years so i wasn't holding out to much hope for Sugarhouse but this film turned out to be one of those delightful surprises that watching films throws up every now and then. Rarely have i seen three displays as masterful on screen at once as the three we see in this film . Andy Serkis is frightening as Hoodwink and looks a complete different person from the one doubled as Gollum . His portrayal of a murdering drug dealing pimp is not only brilliant but totally believable . Steven Mackintosh is superb as the troubled Horatio who has problems far more complicated that money can solve and finally the star performer , Ashley Walters as D . D is a crack head who has been dealt the short straw in life and although has a lot to be angry about he still has it in his heart to help a man who has more than himself. Sugarhouse is a dark , but surprisingly never a depressing movie about how far people will go when they are desperate and nowhere else to turn . It's a film that i recommend anyone who loves great acting see as soon as possible."

"Sugarhouse = sweet. Saw this the other day and thought it was great. Fantastic performances by Ashley Walters (Bullet Boy) and Andy Serkis (LOTR, King Kong). Hope it does well, way better than the average Brit urban thriller."
